Meet our Staff

Dr. David J. Riedl was born and grew up in the Fox River Valley.  He graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with emphasis in biochemistry.  In 1986 Dr. Riedl received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine.  While at Purdue, he also did research involving cancer, muscular dystrophy and nutrition.  After graduation, Dr. Riedl returned to Wisconsin and has worked exclusively in small animal practice, starting HOUSE CALLS Veterinary Service in 1995 .

"One of the things I love about veterinary medicine is that it offers the challenge of constant change.
In keeping up with what is new in the field, I've always been an enthusiastic participant in continuing
medical education.  I've attended seminars in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, parasitic disease, pain management, feline geriatric medicine, gastric dilatation/volvulus treatment, neurology, ophthalmology and lameness.  Though the practioner gets older and more experienced, the knowledge should stay young."

Dr. Riedl and his wife Barb have two children, two cats and two dogs.  His practice interests encompass a wide range of family practice medicine and surgery.  Outside of professional life, Dr. Riedl is an auto racing fan, a history buff, an outdoor enthusiast and plays trumpet in the jazz band, Hasband.

Julie Nachtwey is a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with over ten years of practice experience.  She earned her Associate degree in Veterinary Technology from the Madison Area Technical College.  CVT's are the veterinary version of nurses, with similar training, certification and responsibilities.  Julie also serves as X-ray and laboratory tech, surgical and anesthesia nurse and visiting nurse.  She has attended seminars in medical record keeping and anesthesia.

Julie and her husband Paul have two children, son Bryce and daughter Cassidy.  As their children have grown and House Calls has grown, Julie has expanded her work days and is now practicing with Dr. Riedl on Mondays through Thursdays.
