HOUSE CALLS Veterinary Service 920-729-4828 David J. Riedl, DVM
Community Service Dr. Riedl and Julie were honored in March, 2006 to be named "Humane Heros" by the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. The award was given in recognition of their volunteer work at the shelter. OAHS recently moved into a building that was formerly an outpatient human surgical facility; they maintained one of the surgical suites to use to spay and neuter pets eligible for adoption. The HOUSE CALLS team has been donating their time and expertise to spay and neuter dogs and cats there every week. It is a top-notch surgical facility, second to none in the Fox Valley. In fact, Dr. Riedl neutered his Golden Retriever puppy, Jet, at the shelter. In the fall of 2005, Julie Nachtwey, House Calls' Certified Veterinary Technician, spent a week at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge assisting with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. One of the two major shelters for animal victims of the hurricane was at the Parker Coliseum near campus. Julie stayed with other CVT volunteers at the LSU Veterinary School. HOUSE CALLS is proud to have her lend a hand in a national emergency. Julie was happy to help reunite lost pets with their owners. "This award means a lot to us," said Dr. Riedl. "It comes from a group of people who dedicate their lives to caring for the most vulnerable creatures: the lost, abused and unwanted animals in our society." HOUSE CALLS Veterinary Service continues their volunteer work at the Oshkosh Area Humane Society, where they routinely spay/neuter over 100 homeless animals each year as well as address various medical problems. They also support the Fox Valley Humane Association through sponsorship and volunteer work.
